Psychological profile:

Summary: Brink is a freewheeling experiencer with minor Asperger tendencies and major authority problems.

Control questions:

Non verbal. Make the hand gesture and greeting and wait for the correct response.

Compiled session notes:

Psych-eval conducted for employment purposes by A.Rose 02/10/1998.

Method: Free association, interview, MBT and WAIS III.

Brink enters session 15 minutes late. He seats himself in interviewers chair. Does not use shoe protectors.

Brink finishes Meyers-Briggs quickly and displays considerable lack of interest in the procedure. He is absorbed by the WAIS III and seems to especially enjoy the subtests relating to FSIQ and WMI indices. Brink scores in the upper percentile on all indices except VCI. His FSIQ is uncertain but at least 139, PSI and WMI are 135 and 140+ respectively. He finishes the tests in good time and requests more questions when the test is finished. Evaluation below based on MBT, WAIS III and free observation. Brink is highly intelligent and I have the feeling he may have manipulated some of the test results consciously. The reason for this may not be malice or ill intent, but rather a sign that he views this procedure like everything else; an exciting game.

Brink's curious nature, imagination, levity and hands-on practicality makes him, in general terms, an experiencer and explorer.

Although Brink has an active imagination, he also concerns himself with the functional elements of things, but only as basis for further experiences. He sees everything from people to technology and tools as fascinating toys in his game of life.

Brink is eager to experiment to explore what works most efficiently, but only on his own terms and in his own time.

Getting stuck in certain habits is boring to Brink, he would rather find novel experiences. That being said he displays a distinct monomaniac interest in certain TV-series, pinball and digital games.

Material objects carry deep meaning for Topher in the context as reminders or enablers of cultural experience. He repeatedly refers to his "private collection" and takes great pride in it.

Brink rapidly contemplates multiple options before making a decision. His lateral thinking is efficient but masked in metaphors people outside his cultural sphere (i.e. test conductor) have a hard time following. He's willing and able to consider a lot of different angles to problems.

Brink is not very open to suggestions, and relies only on the opinions of proven peers to assess the merit of those suggestions. He is very headstrong once his mind is made up, but is very insecure when he is not absolutely certain how to proceed.

Brink has an ability to see the big picture — not just how things are, but how they could be—in a variety of situations. He refers to this process as his "Mentat-skills". He then pouts and asks "does it show?".

Brink's fiercely independent streak allows him to make decisions efficiently but his tendency towards anti-authority is a potential security risk. (note: strike this paragraph and introduction notes from R-central application.)

Brink approaches problems in an analytical way, not getting caught up in emotions. He is a very independent thinker, not the least wedded to the preferences of others.

Brink is highly impulsive but his capacity for lateral thinking makes his quick decisions uncannily accurate.

Brink does his own thing when it comes to clothing, guided more by practical concerns than by other people's notions of style.

Brink's nonconformist nature and fierce independence makes him a detached freewheeling social type.

Brink doesn't mind being in the spotlight, but has no interest in acquiring social status. He is proud of his position as "geek" and outsider. He prefers select gatherings of peers to parties.

Brink takes a practical approach to people, not getting too involved in their feelings—or their business. Frankly he has very little interest in other people and has major difficulties deeply empathizing with others.

Brink has a small but intimate circle of friends. He's very discerning as to whom he can trust.

Brink is not rigid in his beliefs about the world, and he doesn't want to impose his perspective on others, but at the same time, he knows that plenty of people don't always act responsibly and plans accordingly.

Date of scan: 21/4/1999, replaces earlier test-scan.

Type of scan: Complete scan according to R-central specifications.

Wire setting: lFPA/SEF

Notes:

02/11/1998 Brink's fourth application within two months for a PhD-student position in the Massachusetts R Prime-Lab. He’s getting insulted by me turning him down. As if it was me. Will submit plea to R-central to overlook possible security risks. Brink's excellent cognition-science and systems engineering background makes him ideal for the position.

06/11/1998 Central security has given in at last. Brink's onboard for next term.

08/25/1998 Brink attached to Massachusetts MNEMA R Prime-Lab as PhD-student. Referring department: Cognitive Sciences, Stanford, CA.

17/4/1999 Scan for test/recruitment purposes. Files, data or comments not to be released to subject under any circumstances.

18/4/1999 Due to exceptional retention capabilities of scan-subject the limited-storage test-wedge is tagged as incomplete.

19/4/1999 Active test by Foxtrot. Subject displays unique awareness of body/mental discrepancies but wedge is otherwise fully functional. Again, no retention of subject’s motor-skills.

21/4/1999 Letter to Brink from R-central this morning. They want him to join central. I will take care of this after the E.P. crisis is resolved. Complete scan ordered from R-central.

21/4/1999 Complete scan replaces test-scan. Untested.

23/4/1999 Brink is now tagged as clearance 2. All local records to be wiped in "millennium-bug" as per directive 9.
